WASHINGTON, DC — Today, China Task Force Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Co-Chairman John Joyce (R-PA) met with President Biden and a bipartisan group of House Members and Senators to discuss securing America’s supply chain. The China Task Force Report, released last year, had an entire chapter on the supply chain, which included bipartisan solutions ready to be implemented today. The congressmen presented President Biden with a copy of the China Task Force report at the meeting. Below is a joint statement from them.

“The COVID-19 pandemic opened Americans’ eyes to the vulnerabilities of the U.S. supply chain and to the willingness of the Chinese Communist Party to weaponize parts of the global supply chain that it controls. We want to thank President Biden for inviting us to this meeting and are encouraged he is focusing on the importance of securing our supply chain. Today’s meeting is an important first step, but we cannot allow ourselves to get bogged down by bureaucracy on this issue. Securing our supply chain will require a continued, whole-of-government approach along with the private sector to strengthen and diversify U.S. supply chains. And we must begin this combined effort today in order to safeguard national supplies, rebuild U.S. industry, and work collaboratively with allies to create a safe supply chain network.”
